The 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles") were elite light infantry units trained for air assault operations. Their symbol patch was a screaming bald eagle. B.J. was a member of the division during the 1946 OSA mission to attack Deathshead's Compound, as per the patch on his sleeve.
The division was massacred and routed during the assault on Deathshead's Compound. After the war, the survivors were presumably murdered by the SS under the Kommandobefehl (Commando Order).
