Note: This is a template off of which persons with more information about Bernhard can then create a fully polished page. That is all this is - nothing more, nothing less. My German is sub-brick and I may be COMPLETELY wrong about Bernhard's lines. I apologize to German speakers who read this page prior to any edits.
Bernhard was a Nazi soldier and bodyguard of Obergruppenführer Irene Engel in 1960 on the night train to Berlin. He stands watch by the door leading to BJ and Anya's cabin, and blocks BJ's access to the hallway beyond.
If approached prior to taking Engel's test, he will say "Ich kann Sie nicht passieren lassen, es sei denn, der Kommandant fragt danach" (I cannot let you pass unless the commander asks), and will block BJ's access to the hallway leading to his and Anya's cabin.
During Engel's test, she addresses Bernhard by asking if he thinks BJ is of impure blood, to which he replies, "Ich weiß es nicht, Obergruppenführer" (I do not know, obergruppenführer), which prompts a chuckle from Engel.
Bernhard looks like any other Nazi soldier, and carries an Assault Rifle with no modification. He is the only rank-and-file soldier referred to by name (which excludes officers, members of other branches like the Navy or Air Force, and named/main characters). His eyes and hair are obscured by his mask and cowl, but it can be assumed he possesses Aryan features: blonde hair and blue eyes.
