Chairs in Return to Castle Wolfenstein appear in many missions.
The player can pick up chairs, but only if he has a one-handed weapon equipped. For instance if B.J. is holding a Luger, or a Colt .45, or a grenade, or a knife he can pick up a chair. But if he is holding a M1 Thompson, or a MP-40, ect. he can not pick up the chair. Chairs can also be thrown at enemies, but not causing a tremendous amount of damage. Chairs are mostly used to get to places, or a certain area. There is also a trick you can do with the chair, you can make your enemies explode with the chair by stabbing them first and then hit them with the chair.
