Okay, all Nazis are dead, you can -- Nevermind! ━ William J. Blazkowicz after repeling the assault to the tavern.
Escape! is the fourth and last chapter of Part I of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. This is the conclusion of the escape of Castle Wolfenstein and presents in person the characters of Ludwig Kessler and Annette Krause. Also shares the first boss fight in game if we don't count the encounter with the supersoldat at the beginning of chapter 3 or the combat with the panzerhund moments before the boss fight.
Storyline[]
Blazkowicz have finally reached the cableway station. There was a cablecar recently parked on station, but the gates of the castle were closed too. Fortunatelly, nobody knows that he was there. All he had to do was access to the control room and open it. After lowering the level, the noise of the gate alarmed to the near soldiers and forced him to fight until it opens completely. This didn't take much time and managed to reach the cablecar and moving it out of the castle.
Outside in cableway, a guard alerted to everyone about the flee of the prisoner and a new cablecar was sent from the other line to attack him. Both stopped in middle of the way. Blazkowicz needed to restore the electricity somehow to continue, but the generator was at the cableway outpost. Using his pipe, slipped by the cable to reach the tower, kicking a soldier that tried to catch him inside of a parked cablecar in process. The few guards there couldn't stop him from restoring the energy and the reinforcements from a new cablecar were too late to stop B.J after that. But just some meters before reaching the bridge, cablecar stopped due to the rain of bullets that came from there. Blazko tried to improvise another way to escape, but a drone showed up and shoot to the cable. He couldn't hold from cablecar and fell into the river, and some seconds later, the cablecar fell on him.
Somehow he survived and swam across the debris looking for the surface. He was stuck in a cavern that was being explored by the nazis. At least noone known that he was there. The only way out was going up, so he had to explore the caves looking for an exit. At the end he found an elevator that sent him back to the surface. He was down the bridge on its west side, nobody could expect him coming from there after the fall of the cablecar. Unfortunately, stealth wasn't an option due to the lack of covertures in the platforms and had to pass as fast as he could. There wasn't time to wait for elevator, so he forced the door and jumped into the hole. At same time, someone was inside and chose the highest floor. B.J. had to think fast and open the trapdoor on the cabin's roof, get inside before it crushed him and kill the guard inside.
There was no time to rest, more guards were waiting for him at the checkpoint and a new shooting began. On his way to Paderborn, he was received by marksmen, heavy soldiers, drones, a supersoldat, even a panzerhund, but nothing stopped him. He managed to get inside the village and found Kessler's tavern without been detected, except by a homeless drunk that was yelling about the nazis were coming. In the backdoor, Blazko was received by Annette Krause, Kessler's protégé, and both met with him while he was placing planks in the hall. There B.J. told him the bad news about Agent One's death, when noise was heard coming from the square.
The three of them approached the windows to hear better, unexpecting that a kampfhund jumped by the window and attacked Annette on her arm. Nazis have found them. Kessler took the girl and carried her to the basement, asking to Blazko open the trapdoor and defend the tavern. Nazi trucks parked outside and reinforcements tried to breach in the building. They didn't stop coming, like an infinite wave of soldiers sent to kill just one man. Until they stopped for no reason. Blazko went to the basement entry to advice to Kessler that the hall was clear. But just before ending his sentence, someone yelled for him. The main doors were demolished and Rudi Jäger dressed with an experimental power armor breached looking for vengeance. Even armed with two MG-46s, Blazko managed to dismantle parts of his armor to shoot at his body, making him put on his knees due to his wounded chest. After executing him, a self-destructing device turned on and he ran back to the basement seconds before the explosion. The calm came back came back for a moment. But the mission wasn't over yet. Kessler's new info said that Helga Von Schabbs took the folder with Deathshead's compound location with her to the excavations she led since almost 2 months ago. They prepared for the trip and took the boat on the river down the tavern. Their next stop: Wulfburg.

Trivia[]
- When you arrive to the cableway outpost, theres a window on the second floor. If you throw a hand grenade over there, the explosion will kill the commander in the control room and reduce the combat to just one wave.
- After pulling the level, another cablecar with reinforcements will arrive. You can jump by the same window to dodge the upcoming guards and active the first cablecar before they get to you.
- On the same outpost, theres a poster theres a poster paroding Bert the Turtle, a character from the short film Duck and Cover (1952). The german version in game, Schunke die Schildkröte, repeat almost the same main message from the original advice.
- The two Horten Ho 229 that appear on the second half of the route can't be taken down with any weapon.
- In tavern, when Kessler and Annette try to hear the noise from the square, the scripted kampfhund won't show up if you don't move out of the windows.
- In boss fight with Rudi Jäger, Kessler will often slightly open the basement trapdoor to give you a small medkit.
- Before taking the boat to end the chapter, you can take a bag that belongs to Annette. If you take it, a variant of the cutscene will play where she will thank you for bringing her things. Also, the bag will appear at the beginning of next chapter.
