In the SNES and subsequent ports the Flamethrower fires a stream of very fast red orbs with a principle similar to Doom's Plasma Gun. It fires a two-round burst of orbs every time the fire button is hit just like the Chaingun. These rounds will travel through enemies until they hit a wall. If an enemy is killed with the Flamethrower, he will not burst into flames. The Flamethrower uses its own unique ammo, Fuel, which comes in Fuel Cans. The player can hold 99 units of fuel at max.


Since the Flamethrower is similar to the Rocket Launcher, only with less power, feel free to use it against common enemies. It's very good for conserving ammunition, in case you're low on bullets and don't want to or can't use your rocket launcher.
