The Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei, lit. Secret State Police) is officially the political police of Nazi Germany. An obedient arm of the Nazi administration and the SS, following Adolf Hitler's assassination by William Blazkowicz in the late 1960s, General Lothar Brandt organized a coup and revitalized it in open defiance of the Berlin establishment and the SS. Centering his power in Paris and Brother 1, Brandt brought all Nazi assets in the French capital under his command.[1]

Following Lothar's rebellion in early 1980, he was officially removed from the post and replaced by General Walter Winkler, while the Gestapo officially devoted all resources to finding Brandt.[2] However, Brandt has established a powerful network of sympathizers and supporters across the organization, which stretched as far as Berlin, hamstringing the search.[3]

Technology[]

By 1980, Gestapo has expanded its surveillance technology to a massive degree, putting Paris under constant observation using a fleet of surveillance drones, cameras in apartments "the size of a dust mote" and constant patrols around the clock - yet consistently failed to eradicate the resistance.[4]

A bold power move against the Berlin establishment and the SS. Now, the Gestapo completely controls Paris. Hopefully, not for long."
