Japan, known as the Empire of Japan, is a country in East Asia. The history of the nation follows the real-life history in pre-MachineGames titles, but differs significantly in the divergent timeline.

New Order background[]

The Japanese Empire joined World War II on December 7, 1941, by launching a sneak attack on the U.S. naval base in Hawaii - Pearl Harbor. Over the following five years, Japan fought with the United States for domination of the Pacific, ruthlessly exploiting occupied China. Finally, on August 20, 1946, German submarine fleets in conjunction with the IJN secured a decisive victory at the Battle of the Leyte Gulf, wiping out half the American fleet and breaking the US naval supremacy under the command of Oberfbefehlshaber Franz-Gustav Beyers.[1]

Japan continued to struggle in occupied China, fighting a protracted land war against guerrillas of the Republic of China and the People's Liberation Army, who successfully pushed the IJA back into the Hubei province by March 1948.[2] However, the victory proved short-lived, as Nazi Germany moved in from the north and invaded China with the goal of subjugating the vast nation. Four months after pushing out the Japanese occupier, the Nazis destroyed the last PLA stronghold and less than two years after their joint victory, Japan found itself at the mercy of the Nazi empire, forced to surrender its territorial claims and turned into a servant state under the Nazi boot.[3][4]

By 1980, following the assassination of Adolf Hitler and the beginning of the apocalypse, Nazi Germany withdrew from Asia, abandoning occupied territories.[5]
