
The Maquis (French pronunciation: (maˈki) were rural warfare guerrilla of French Resistance fighters, called maquisards during the occupation of France in World War II. Initially, they were composed of men and women who had escaped into the mountains to avoid conscription into Vichy France Service du travail obligatoire (English: Compulsory Work Service; STO) to provide forced labor for Germany. To avert capture and deportation to Germany, they became increasingly orgainzed into active resistance groups.
The New Colossus[]
Based on Caroline's note in the Eva's Hammer, it is shown that the Maquis still exists and resists the Nazi's occupation in France. Caroline Becker managed to contact with one of their member, Juna to gain Intel about American Resistance groups.
Their HQ is in Paris.
Youngblood[]
Maquis is present in Wolfenstein: Youngblood following the Second American Revolution of overthrow the Nazi Occupation in United States. Maquis tried every attempt to spark an uprising, only to fail miserably. B.J Blazkowicz volunteered in going over there to help the resistance, only to be captured at some point by the disguised agents of the German Armed Forces, Julie Brandt a.k.a Juju and Lothar Brandt a.k.a Jacques Martel, leaving it up to the twin daughters of terror billy to save the day. Unfortunately, the plan didn't go very well as the group was massacred by the Germans after their secret hideout in catacombs was exposed.
