- The Sonnengewehr is based off an actual real life World War II German weapons project which fortunately did not reach hardware status, at least in it's orbital form.
- It was first mentioned in-game in a newspaper article in the New Order.
*The name “Black Sun” is a reference to the 2009 Wolfenstein game. In the game, the Nazis attempt to harness the energy of the so-called “Black Sun” dimension to win the war.
