The SS Special Projects Division (German: SS Spezielle Projekte Abteilung) was a special division of the Schutzstaffel which develops weapons and equipment for the Third Reich. Their most prominent and leading member is SS Colonel (later General) Wilhelm Strasse.

The group was known for its collaboration with the SS Paranormal Division, to whom it supplies its inventions.

In Wolfenstein RPG timeline, the group was merged with the SS Paranormal Division. The Special Weapons and Paranormal Division in the game resides in Castle Wolfenstein and is responsible for Super Soldiers, rising undead and summoning a demon, Harbinger.

In RTCW, the first briefing shows a photo of the members of Himmler's SS Paranormal Division, and it appeared to include Deathshead in the photo on the left side. Bulow is said to be the head of the Paranormal Division, and they describe Strasse's connection to the SS Special Projects Division. They are apparently treated as seperate organizations (or at least that Strasse's is a subsidiary of Himmler's SS Paranormal division). However, whatever the case, the two were working together sharing research from an archaeological dig near Castle Wolfenstein. It is discuss how the research included chemical, biological weaponry, rocketry and occult. This lead to technology and bio-reanimation of dead tissue to create super soldiers. In the RTCW strategy guide Wilhelm Strasse is also folded into the SS Paranormal Division as a leading member (though he personally 'rejects the occult', and believes their are scientific explanations such things as the 'resurrection serum').

In MachineGames Timeline, they had been highly involved created many robotic creatures in additional to the German Armed Forces. Ultimately, turning the tide in World War II, which resulted in the defeat of the Allies and victory to Nazi Germany.

Important members[]

  • Heinrich Himmler - Founder of the SS Special Projects division. All members report to him, he owned Castle Wolfenstein.
  • OberstgruppenfĆ¼hrer Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse - Leader of the SS Special Projects Division. A gifted researcher and doctor behind both the Lopers, and the Super Soldiers, towering cyborg soldiers that were heavily armed and armored. The only known SS character to make it in The New Order. Although, he doesnā€™t survive the events of the game.
  • Professor A. Zemph was a scientist on loan to the SS Paranormal Division from the SS Special Projects Division. Unlike his superior Deathshead, Zemph indeed believed in the occult enough to try and avoid unleashing supernatural horrors during his work.
